A 22-year-old Redway man and a teenager were arrested for felony assault Wednesday after “brutally” attacking an individual on the Garberville Town Square, according to a press release issued by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
The assault, which took place at approximately 5:30 a.m., left the victim with “major life-threatening injuries.”
“Due to the severity of the injuries, the victim was transported to an out-of-the-area hospital for medical treatment,” the release, written by Sgt. Jesse Taylor, said.
Taylor said that deputies located the suspects by following a “blood trail” that led to a residence in the 600 block of Locust Street. There they found and arrested 22-year-old Zachary Brown as well as the teenage suspect, whose name is not being released due to his age.
Brown was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility while the teen was taken to Humboldt County Juvenile Hall.
